About - Ceren Bingol Studio was founded with the vision of melding logic and magic to create projects that uplift and redefine the standards of living, working and experiencing our built environment. Led by licensed architect Ceren Bingol, AIA, LEEDap, the Studio is a collaborative and cross-disciplinary environment where aesthetic, social, economic and environmental considerations are applied to architectural thinking to imagine and deliver projects at multiple scales: architecture, urbanism, interiors and products.
Ceren Bingol is the Architect-in-Residence and Director of the Architecture Department at Cranbrook Academy of Art. She received her Bachelor of Art from Yale College in 2001 and Master of Architecture from Yale School of Architecture in 2005, graduating with honors and multiple awards including a unique recognition for excellence in art and architecture.

eliminating trims, designing fine European -inspired built-ins and creating clean, volumetric masses that eliminate clutter. The gut renovation upgraded the foundations, envelope, building systems and the architectural and furniture plans of the two houses within 8 months of combined design and build schedule.

-coat check, cafe, museum shop and auditorium- via a promenade of structurally and formally monumental staircases -the spiral staircase of the atrium and the exterior pop-out staircase which adds to the formal expression of the building.

Museums - The museum structure steps up in section and steps out in plan, creating a cascading cantilever that opens up towards the Grand Allée
and invites the city into the building while acting as an extension of the park through the green roofs and carefully placed windows and terraces. The Grand Hall, a transparent glass box independently supported by vertically cantilevering glass fins located underneath the cantilevering museum structure as well as the intimate courtyard, both add new urban plazas to the city and to the museum complex. Quiet, functional and understated, the museum’s galleries stack upwards in the order of required gallery dimensions for temporary, semi-permanent and permanent galleries. The hybrid steel truss structural system used throughout the building creates uninterrupted gallery spaces and provide the building’s formal identity as the truss structure is exposed behind the triple layered glass facade surrounding the entire building. The frit pattern on the glass facade mimics and enhances the reading of the steel structure while providing the required thermal control to lower mechanical loads.

About the Studio - Led by architect Ceren Bingol
Led by Architect Ceren Bingol, AIA, LEEDap, Ceren Bingol Studio is a small practice with project based collaborators. It is a cross-disciplinary environment where aesthetic, social, economic and environmental considerations are applied to architectural thinking to imagine and deliver projects at multiple scales: architecture, urbanism, interiors and products. Previously a senior architect and project manager at Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), Ceren led a mix of cultural, residential, commercial and master-planning projects, and she was most notably the project architect and manager of Quebec National Museum of Beaux-Arts in Quebec City which opened in June 2016. Prior to OMA, Ceren worked at Grimshaw Architects on high profile projects all of which exhibit exquisite attention to detail, building systems and sustainable design.
